| Early Years: In 1975 at the age of 15 at legendary 570 KLAC in Los Angeles Jesse helped Harry 'Hi ya! Hi ya! Hi ya-Doin!' Newman around the studio on the weekends. In 1978 he worked at Los Angeles Valley College's Radio Station programing a Top 40 Format. In 1980 he was at KIIS FM working for (PD) Mike Wagner doing everything and anything while finishing his undergraduate studies at CSUN where he was on 88.5 KSCN in Northridge programing 'The Valley Rock Shift'. A nightly new wave, punk rock, and dance music format on the local NPR affiliate. During that time Jesse promoted night clubs, showcases for new talent, and small concerts at local venues. He also was on KPRZ (The local Gannet AM affiliate) broadcasting Christian Contemporary music, and then Al Hams Music Of Your Life. He also wrote, produced, engineered, acted (as a regular voice actor) for Syndicate It a short lived syndicated radio show called 'The Rock Drama'. Hunting Down The Dream: After graduating from college with degrees in speech and communications, and business Jesse continued to work at KIIS FM in the news department in the early 80s while pursuing an acting career, voice over career, and radio career. With a great reference letter from Bill Ward opportunities to work at KGGI in Riverside, and KMEN in San Bernardino popped up while at that same time making a quick stop as Production Director and Weekender at KMGG Magic 106 in Los Angeles. Several years and a multitude of stations came and went in the IE for Jesse, but 59 KFXM in San Bernardino put him on the fast track to Los Angeles Radio in a full time capacity. He also joined 93 KHJ in 1983 working for Walt Sabo doing this new concept called 'Car Radio' while playing the hits. According to Jesse...."One of the most thrilling times of my radio career was when I first opened the mic, early on a Sunday morning write after Casey's American Top 40, and said....'93 KHJ Los Angeles....Good Morning The Brown Beauty's On Duty Jesse Torrero ....Car Radio 93 KHJ....I hit that post tight baby!) The Story As It Goes: On the AIR at 59 KFXM he was heard by Jon Beudeux Production Director of 1580 KDAY . Jon was driving through San Bernardino one night stopped in to see his old station where his career started. Jon took Jesse's air check and gave it to PD Jack Patterson at 1580 KDAY. Greg Mack changed the format to HIP HOP, it was the first RAP FORMATED station in the world, and in a major market to go 24/7. Jesse joined the new broadcasting team (Russ Parr, JJ Johnson Greg Mack, Lisa Canning, Mark Morganella, Don Tracey, Steve Woods, Jack Paterson, and Jesse Torrero), and stayed on the air at 1580 KDAY for almost a decade. For many years he was the only Hispanic Radio Personality in the country doing RAP and HIP HOP on the air Full Time & Part Time. While on the air he was handed a MC-hosting opportunity of a new show called 'The High Energy Show' from Music Director Greg Mack, Jesse went on to make that show a big hit on the weekends. Jesse is one of the pioneers of HIP HOP/RAP Radio. He's interviewed almost every major artist of that genre and time. Sadly though it ended and being the third last voice to be heard on THE ORIGINAL1580 KDAY , yes the legendary station that 'Wolfman Jack' was on along with so many others. Some of the greatest radio personalities of the 20th century. With J.J. Johnson ( the perfect guy to be the last voice ever to be heard on AM Stereo 1580 KDAY, Los Angeles) saying the last good bye the station went dark. Yet another truly sad day in Los Angeles Radio History. A true radio junkie while working at 1580 KDAY Jesse could also be heard on many stations up and down the California Coast: KACY, Q105, KMYX, KMEN, Mighty 690, KUHL, KIST, KDEZ, KCKC, KNJO, XHRM, KWNK, KKBZ, KMGG- Magic 106 and many others. He has acted on many T.V. Dramas and commercials, done lots of stage performances, many voice overs, concert promoting, record producing, artist contract negotiations, MC work (Over 500 stage appearances across America and in 33 nations), stand up comedy, and lots of writing. The Record Business: He is the owner of Wik'd Entertainment and Management, a company that has placed new artists with Motown Records, Mac Daddy Records, Sunshine Records and Entertainment, and Arista Records (Clive Davis). In 90-93' he teamed up with Sunshine bringing 'Hazze' to the label where they formed the group called 'The Movement'. The result was a Billboard Top 40 hit, and Billboard #1 Dance Hit called 'Jump Everybody'. At Sunshine he was The Director of Sales, and handled co-management responsibilities. Arista Records soon came calling for 'The Movement'. Partnering up with Sunshine (Grammy Nominated and Multi Platinum Record Producer Walter Kahn-who taught Jesse much about the record business) he helped the group attain Gold Record Status. He discovered recording artist 'Miranda' who had several west coast hits. He has received several Gold Records, and Platinum Records for his work with many artists some of them are 'Tone Loc, Young M.C, and the Go Go's. . Jesse has performed in over 300 U.S. Cities and 33 nations as a MC and warm-up act for various recording artists, and entertainers. He has handled all aspects of touring for various entertainment groups. Jesse has negotiated 10 different record deals for artists with various major and independent labels through the years. Radio Calls Again: He joined KJLH (working for Stevie Wonder) on the air as a night personality hired by PD Franky Ross where he spent several years. A position for a talk show host came up at 710 Talk KMPC for a weekend show. He pitched a show called 'The Computer Guys' which aired for about a year where Jesse was the co-host and producer. A few years ago Jesse worked at KCMG Los Angeles MEGA 92.3 where he did the swing shift and weekends for PD Mike Marino for several years during the time John London was doing mornings, and Comedian George Lopez tried his hand at morning radio. What's Going on Now: Jesse is producing a Real Estate Info Commercial, he's Developing a Business Plan for a innovative Downtown Los Angeles Food Service, finishing one of his two books for publication by Christmas 09', re-establishing his voice over and acting careers, continuing his training in 'Wing Chun' kung fu with Sifu Gary Lam, training in the Spartan Workout Styles, and boxing . He is President/CEO/Broker and Owner of WINWINWIN, Inc. A California Corporation DBA's 'The Home Selling Pros', and 'The Home Loan Professionals', and WIK'd Entertainment & Management. Over the last 25 years he has sold hundreds of homes, and brokered loans for many families. His company is currently investing and buying real estate all over California adding to WINWINWIN, Inc. holdings and portfolio. Jesse is searching for a new radio home, and exploring several new business ideas for a syndicated/satalite radio for a Real Estate/ Loan talk show, and 'The 1580 KDAY 'High Energy Show'. Jesse is currently being booked for speaking engagements and seminars as a motivational speaker. |
